Class 1 - Newsletter for Term 5 and 6

Welcome back!

I hope you have all had a good break. I am really looking forward to teaching class 1 and getting to know the children. We have kicked off the term with a week of learning with an RE focus where we have been exploring the creation story. Over the next couple of terms our topic will be ‘Oh I do like to be beside the seaside’. We will be looking at seaside holidays, the seas and the oceans and the habitats of living things. We will be exploring this theme through the books ‘Share a Shell’, ‘Commotion in the Ocean’ and ‘Tiddler’.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to come and see me.

Many thanks

Mrs. Walker

Home learning

Home learning is a great way to reinforce the skills the children will be learning in class as well as show you what they are learning. It is therefore important that all children complete their home learning as it will give them extra opportunities to practice the skills they need to achieve their full potential.

Children will be set home learning tasks in both English and Maths on alternate weeks. Please take the time to discuss the learning set with your children early so that it gives you plenty of opportunity to see me if you have any questions.

Home learning will now be set on a Monday and will be collected in the following Monday.

Things to remember

With so many things to remember, here are a few reminders to help. Also please check the routines section of the letter for any changes to the current routine:

  • Please continue to write in your child’s reading record book
  • We will continue to change books on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and Mrs Curry will continue to kindly hear children read on most Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Wellies in school at all times
  • Hopefully this term will see some better weather. Please can your child have a hat in school and a water bottle.
