Class 1 - Newsletter for Term 1 and 2

Welcome back.

I hope you have all had a good summer. I am really looking forward to teaching class 1 and getting to know the new reception children that are joining us this year. We are starting off our year with our topic ‘Once upon a time.’ Over the next couple of terms we will be exploring fairy tales. We will be looking at the versions we all know and love and discovering other alternative versions of these tales. We will be exploring this theme through the books ‘The Wolf’s Story’, ‘The three little wolves and the big bad pig’ and ‘Into the forest’.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to come and see me.

Many thanks

Mrs Walker

Home learning

Home learning is a great way to reinforce the skills the children will be learning in class as well as show you what they are learning. It is therefore important that all children complete their home learning as it will give them extra opportunities to practice the skills they need to achieve their full potential.

Children will be set home learning tasks in both English and Maths on alternate weeks. Please take the time to discuss the learning set with your children early so that it gives you plenty of opportunity to see me if you have any questions.

Home learning will now be set on a Tuesday and will be collected in the following Monday.

Things to remember

With so many things to remember, here are a few reminders to help. Also please check the routines section of the letter for any changes to the current routine.

  • Please continue to hear your children read and write in your child’s reading record books.
  • We will continue to change books on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
  • Wellies should be in school at all times.
  • PE kits should be in school at all times.
