Class 3 - Home Learning
We believe that home learning provides children with an opportunity to further their understanding, and is an important link in the school/parent partnership. Home Learning is set according to the school Home Learning Policy and includes learning spellings and tables, reading regularly and tasks linked to themes being covered at school. Many of these activities reinforce the skills and ideas in English and Mathematics currently being taught and help your child to develop independence in their learning.
As pupils go through the school the expectation is that children will spend more time on their home learning, as they prepare for the secondary phase of their education.
We ask parents to support children as they are encouraged to continue the learning process at home.
In Class 3 we learn spellings daily. These spellings are a combination of new spelling rules for year 5 and 6 as well as revision of some spelling rules from lower Key Stage 2. We learn spellings through elicitation of the rules as well as fun and interactive games. Every Friday we work on the statutory spelling list for year 5 and 6 through dictations ensuring the children can spell the word as well as use it in context.
